Heinz Lichtenegger has always pursued sound improvements, particularly for analogue playback. One of his key insights: mechanical grounding is vital for delivering clean, dynamically open, unaltered sound.
By coupling a turntable to a body of significant mass, Heinz found that he could eliminate unwanted vibrations — both external (e.g. footsteps) and internal (e.g. stylus tracking). This concept, known as mechanical grounding, relies on transferring these vibrations into something solid like a concrete or brick wall.
The best solution? Mounting your turntable on a lightweight, stiff wall console or rack, which transfers resonances efficiently to this mechanical ground.
